Soooo...
I'm learning html and a bit of css while trying to design a website withouth paying someone else to do it for me.  The good thing is I found a template design I liked for $30.00 and it was fairly easy to play around with. It was lots of hours and hours of fun. No. Really. I enjoyed figuring out GIMP, Dreamweaver, and Adobe Fireworks.  Lots of fun. But what I didn't like, and what was NOT fun, was Movable Type!

I want to have a blog, even though I barely write on this one, but I've heard time and again, that it would help generate people to your site.
Which is what I want to do for my self-published book.

I worked hours trying to upload that sucker onto my host site, even with the help of the host IT. The stupid thing was horrible! A nightmare!
And then...HURRAY!...it was working.  So then, to play around with it. The fun part, right? Wrong!  You basically need to be a Web Designer just to mounver around in that thing! I can't do a simply thing like move my columns around, cause I need to know more css than I do!

So I decided to scratch the Movable Type project and find another software where I can have a blog. I looked into WordPress, but before trying to install a "very easy" program as so many have already suggested, I still didn't see if it would be as easy to design the site as it was with the template I bought from thetemplatestore.com for 30 bucks.

On to looking at blogger. Can I put in on my host site? Yes, they say. I can FTP the page. But they didn't tell you it had to be a STANDARD TEMPLATE!  What if I want to add some neat things to my blog site, to make it look pretty and different?  Nope. Standard. And If I wanted to tweak the darn thing, I would need to know more of HTML than I do.  PLUS I can't delete my account, but I can put in bogus information in it and decide to never sign on to it again. So there's another blogger profile out there, no website, but just sitting on a server.

Sigh...

WhatToDo..WhatToDo..WhatToDo..WhatToDo..???

I went back online and did more research and found out that Word Press has things called "themes."  And then found a youtube presentation on how easy it was to implement one.  Will it work?  Back to downloading...

This time, downloading wasn't so bad. It claims 5 minutes to do everything, but it still took some doing. If I hadn't done the Movable Type, I would have never known how to setup my database.  Then on to themes. Did some research and found one that I like.  Now to editting it to fit my needs.   Very nice! Just like using the Dreamweaver template. Fun. Easy to figure out. A FUN to figure out, which is most important, and now I have to go along with everyone else who simply enjoyes Word Press!

However, I did read that because it's popular, it's subjected to lots of spam and hacks and bad people who just want to spoil the fun.
But I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best on that.

And so I was part of the massive thousands of other people trying to get the Comic Con hotel discount rates within walking distance so that I didn't need to have a car.

If I had know like this person (http://www.eugeneson.com/2007/02/my-hotel-room.html) that I needed to try to refresh the really long bad website after putting in my credit card information, i would have gotten the hotel of my choice.  But...I was scared the site would kick me off and I would have to start over.  Waiting for a long long time..finally decided to refresh and find out I had to CONFIRM my resversation. By that time, I got the error and when I went back, that hotel was full.  So, I tried calling (which i had been doing both online and calling to make a reservation) and finally got through using a the number provided that told me to call if I got an error on the webpage after my reservation.  I wait for a after  long long long time on the phone queue for hours (got hung up on after the first hour and had to call back), I finally got with someone who told me what I already knew...that my reservation didn't go through and that I can could be added to the very long long long long stand-by listing for the hotel of my choice.  Sigh..

I had them put me down for the hotel anyway and spent the next few hours trying to find a hotel on my own.  Finally found one. The same one that was open for rooms the last time I went (2005)...that also costs a furtune.  (http://doubletree1.hilton.com/en_US/dt/hotel/SDGO-DT-Doubletree-Hotel-San-Diego-Mission-Valley-California/index.do).  So...got the hotel. Now got to get the car which adds more cost to this lovely honeymoon we've been planning.

Found out I had picked the 5-day cruse instead of the 4-day cruise so I would be coming in on Saturday instead of Friday, which means missing some of the Comic Con that my fiance paid a 4-day pass for (which didn't make sense to me since we weren't going to be there for Thursday or Friday anyway) and perhaps not get there at all if we can't get on a Trolley so we can pay less for parking the car downtown, on the busiest day in San Diego where 125,000 people are coming to visit as well.  Oh well.  Finally found a way to get from the aiprort to the cruise, from the cruiise back to the airport to get rental car to go to hotel room to check in (in the morning which we have to pay a day early to get that check in time) and to head to Comic Con.

Can't wait to see how this goes...

So.... I got excrement on my tubes.

Huh. How should one take that? Shrug. I don't know.

"...And how did this happen?" I asked the doctor.
"Oh..may be scar tissue from the last surgery."
Huh.  Scar tissue. Excrement sitting on my tubes for 8 years...
"But we scrapped off most of it on your ovary and tube on the left side, but then it began to bleed, so we stopped.  However, we did put some
coating around your uterus to protect it just in case it happens again."
Huh.  Ok.  So the left ovary and tube is out of commission... "But from what I can see," the doctor says, "The right one is ok. Not sure if it's open, but we can run test to find out."  You know...the one when they squirt ink in you and watch the screen.  Been there. Done that.  Let's just call it a day and see what life has in store.  To Children, or Not To Children...only time, the universe, the spirts that be, can tell.

In the meantime, start healing up from the large bikini cut and make plans for the wedding.

At least this time healing has gone fast and great!  Wonder if because I got a good man this time who actually cares to help me out after a major surgery, instead of telling me that I had to do things myself. Uh. Major Surgey? Hello? Can't do much on your own. That should have given me a very BIG warning sign already!  And we hadn't been married a year yet! But, being the dutiful wife, I hung in there for 4 more years.  Funny how life makes you redo things. (It even makes you stand in someone else's shoes so that you can be a bit more humbler and smarter and less judgemental). Here I am again. Redoing...but this time it's "doing" great!

Wedding...huh.
Just wanted to put a budged of 10 grand.  That's all...and 100 people.  So why does my WeddingWire say that I have a budget of $16,355.52 and 283 guests, and I got stuck having to us another cake topper because my mother didn't bother asking me if I already bought one and my God Parents happinly bought one for me that was over $100 dollars, which makes me need to use it.  So...TWO wedding cakes are in to solve that!  Cause I'm gonna use my dragon heart topper, no doubt about it!

And I still have $2,727.85 left to pay...which isn't quite right because I now have to add more people to the reception (and buy more party favors) which only holds 150 guests.  So I'm praying that we don't get that many RSVP that will go over that 150 since we already paid off that reception site.  Most of the people are out of town anyway and they won't come..right?...I'm just sending the invite out to them just to let them know...

And I couldn't pick a Matron of Honor, so I choose to have two, and one of them now has a "friendship" complex because she thinks the other matron status of friendship with me is equally friends or more than her.  Please God! Let this turn out alright!!

Chuck told me to RUN!  and elope.  Why did I think it would be any different?  Should have listened to the warning bells instead of the wedding bells.

How did things get so out of hand? sigh. I should have listened to Chuck.

But thinking positive, a lot of do-it-yourslef items are really keeping that budget down from 20 grand.  And this time off from surgery is really helping me put together a lot of crafty projects.  Attending the Bridalextravangazy and getting my wedding dress with discouts there really, really helped...but my color turquoise isn't going the way I wanted because I wanted dark, not the light, turquoise that looks like sky blue.  sigh.  Oh well.  As long as I get the word "turquoise" I can't really complain much.  At this point, I just want things to work out!

150 days to go....

So....
I made it through the holidays. HURRAY! Just a few spit-spat with the sister and we reconciled after 2 weeks. And that's an ongoing thing, I suppose. The mom was actually on good behavior. They both met the boyfriend and all went somewhat well. I only broke out a little bit from the stress. :)

Now to the good stuff!

Turned the big 35 this year. He actually got off of W.O.W. to enjoy the weekend with me. I had a long "honey-do lists" around the house: install a ceiling fan, hammer in a few pickets out of place on my fence, change my vent around to blow some heat the other way, put some boxes in the attic, fill in a hole in my yard, and then feed me.

Went to Taste of Texas with my honey! Got a 32oz Porterhouse for 2, 2 salads, 2 sides (I got fries, he got potato), and 10inches/4 layer cake! Mmmm... So good! I just love a man who knows how to eat!

I think this guy is DEFINITELY gonna be a keeper. It's only been 3 months, but all is so good considering the past 2 knuckleheads that I TRIED to make work and all the wrong signs were there within he first 3 months. But this one...all good! We'll see how the 4-6 months go, but I don't see much problems. Keeping my fingers crossed.

So this weekend, I plan to go and see Pan's Labyrith. Even though there's that new upgrade on W.O.W., the boyfriend is actually gonna spend another weekend with me. Hell. We've been spending every weekend, and W.O.W. time is Mon-Fri...and occasionally a few hours between the time we aren't doing much but chit chatting. :) But I rather a gamer, than a cheater, and all those other bad things. There's always something that you have to deal with.

But back to Pan's Labyrith. I've been waiting to see this movie for a few months now. I hope it's as good as the wait!

The Holidays
And so far so good. I've enjoyed my company Christmas party and party with my writing friends. Year of 2006 Gone to: Ren Fest and Body Worlds 3 and NASA and saw Maya Angelou speak and ApolloCon and Family Reunion in Orlando and Disney MGM Studios and to Kansas City...been a wonderful year.

Got a cat. Didn't think I was a cat person, but I'm learning to like ole Garfield. He's quite an interesting personality...if I could just keep his claws off my leather couches. Declaw the orange fur ball? Still thinking about it...

Then I met my honey. I.Q. Caveman is my nickname for him--a Neanderthal with a brain. My kind of beast. The best male I've met since my Daddy....so far... and that says a lot ;). We'll see how it goes. He'll be meeting my mom and my sister for the New Years. I've already met his family for Thanksgiving and a Saturday dinner night...and he's agreed to meet mine, though I REALLY don't want to spend time with the I-think-only-about-myself Mother nor the unhappy-single-sister of mine who isn't the best person to be around when things are going well with me. Sigh. Family. What can you do?

So Just typing my rare postings and snooping around and seeing whateveryone else is up to.

So... I broke up with my man after 5-6 months and then met a new one.

That's dating for you. :)

And I wonder "Okay, what's HIS issues"?? Don't know yet. It's only been a couple of weeks and everything is fun, smiles and exciting. So you wonder, "When does the drama kick in?" I usually give it close to 2 months. By that time, the bubbly feelings cool and the pretenses slow to a stop. But so far, I'm enjoying the company.

At my age of 34, it seems like I do a lot of comparing after going through so many relationships. He has that piece of quality like the guy in 1995, and this piece like the guy in 1990, or the guy I just divorced in 2004, and OH PLEASE don't let this all end up like the guy in 1997!!

I know everyone is different and you shouldn't have baggage, and I use to think I was pretty open minded and take people for who they were. But now...now it's getting a bit difficult...or maybe it's the common denominator...ME! They do say one seems to attract the same mate over and over. Hmmm... And how do you break that chain? You recongize the qualities that you saw before and...run like the wind!! That seems to work for me? LOL!

So... after knowing that it wouldn't work out with the last guy, I went out and found a new one. Don't waste much time, I guess. The more I know myself, the faster I know what I want and what I don't want...though 5-6 months was a bit longer than it should have been...but I'm not the type that just gives up after a few bumpy roads, but I am to type to not kid myself either.

And this new guy....pretty cool! I'll see what happens after a few months :)

Oh well... that's dating for ya.

So today is Lawn day. Got up and mowed at 10:00 this morning. Didn't do any edging since it looked like it was going to rain. But...it didn't rain. So i thought I would do it toward the end of the day. But...got lazy. Oh well.

Been watching my Netflix and this week has been Witch Hunter Robin. My last CD should come in on Monday. I'm in the Anime mood. After this will be Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 intermixed with some French and British 18th century movies.

Was going to run another credit report since my discover card has been compromised (that makes the 2nd time this year...July and September). Had to get a new account, new card, and remake a new ID/password for the website to access my account. How inconvenient.

Someone got my card number and charged $2,000 at a Target in California (I'm in Texas). That happened both times. The credit card just sends me a letter saying that a new card was issued and they were closing the case, but they didn't looked like they investigated anything. Oh well. If it happens again, I think I'll have to have them actually DO an investigation. But since they're not worried...I'll not worry.

I do another credit report next year since I found out I already did one for this year. The thieves aren't making a new account, they're just getting and using my number and getting neat stuff at Target. I keep trying to figure out where I used the card for this to happen twice.

I wonder if the Pizza Hut guy is involved....

I've decided to join lj since my friends at the local writing group have discussion during our monthly critique about things posted on their lj.

I want to be in the loop!! Heh. Heh.

So far, I've been nosey in reading what's been going on in everyone's lives.
Preeeeettttyyyy interesting.

I see why lj was so popular, before myspace came along. :)

I don't know if I'll be posting much on this lj, since I don't
get on-line as much except to chit chat on yahoo when I'm bored
on late nights and/or weekends.

But we'll see...
